Throughout the week I keep track of all the new songs that I hear and love and every friday I put them all here. Most of these songs are brand new, but sometimes I’ll miss a song from before and finally hear it this week.
Whitewash – “Member”
This video from NYC-based Whitewash has everything I love: a sweet groove, a good chase, and of course Dunkin Donuts. Their latest album Shibboleth is out now on Sad Cactus.

Liz Vice – “Empty Me Out”
There’s something to be said about soul music that sounds fresh and not like a throwback. Liz Vice is from Portland, Oregon and, though she’s no beginner, I have a feeling that we’ll be talking about her a lot more in the near future. Her debut album There’s A Light comes out September 25th.

Small Black – “No One Wants It To Happen To You”
Another winner from the Jagjaguwar team. New album Best Blues comes out October 16th.
@SmallBlk
Astronauts, etc. – “No Justice”
Based out of Oakland, Ca, Astronauts, etc has been my soundtrack to my past couple of nights. New album Mind Out Wandering comes out September 18th.

Bill Mountain – “Let’s Get It Started”
More energetic than that one Black Eyed Peas song.

Advance Base – “Trisha Please Come Home”
Sounds like a lo-fi Drive By Truckers ballad, which is a great kind of ballad.
@AdvanceBase
VARSITY – “Cult of Personality”
A great jam that comes from a band that’s from Logan Square aka the cool part of Chicago.
