They just wanna be adored.
Rumors have been circulating in the past couple of days, but now it is confirmed that The Stone Roses are reuniting. The legendary Manchester band will play two hometown gigs this summer followed by a world tour. The band also says it has been working on new material, which will be played at these shows.
Though they aren’t a household name in the states, The Stone Roses are considered one of the most important English bands of the late 80s and early 90s. Their 1989 debut album The Stone Roses is widely regarded among critics and fans as one of the seminal british albums to come out in recent time (NME even deemed it the greatest british album of all time in 2006). The album’s quality is sometimes put into question, but it is agreed upon that the album helped start the 90s Britpop movement – the era that is associated with Blur, and The Verve, and Oasis in their prime.
This is very exciting news – maybe now more people will actually start listening to them!
