By the end of this month I would have read millions of end-of-year lists, and from those lists I’ve come across many great tunes that I missed in 2013 including Bombino, DJ Koze, Perfect Pussy, Thee Oh Sees and more. In December I also listened to some tracks from Bob Dylan, Mutual Benefit, Dawes, Sheryl Crow and more.
Here are 20 songs for December 2013, and happy New Years Eve!
And we’re in the home stretch for 2013! This month’s playlist is more focused on past great music with the exception of Blood Orange and a better-than-I-would-ever-like-to-admit One Direction song.
Here are your 20 songs for November 2013.
Happy Halloween everyone! This month’s playlist includes new music from Haim, Danny Brown, Pearl Jam, Dismemberment Plan, Fall Out Boy, and Arcade Fire. I also pay tribute to Lou Reed, and I threw in a special halloween song from Ryan Adams.
Here are my 20 songs for October 2013.
In the end of September we heard the end of Breaking Bad (Badfinger), the beginning of a promising career (CHVRCHES), a couple of comebacks (Mazzy Star, Kings Of Leon, MGMT). And of course, there was plenty of great music old and new.
Here are my 20 songs for September 2013.
The month of August: back to school, back to college football, back to Breaking Bad, and back to listening to some cool tunes. This month’s playlist includes two bands that have “deer” in their names, I finally watch Wes Anderson’s Rushmore, and I pay tribute to The Postal Service and J.J. Cale.
Here are 20 songs for August 2013.
July was a very busy month for me, but I still managed to distract myself by listening to a lot of music throughout my summer school finals (very hard to do right?).
This month’s playlist includes a special 4th of July song from Bruce Springsteen, deep cuts from The Replacements and Stones, and I finally get around to listening to Songs: Ohia and The Microphones.
Here are my 20 songs for July 2013.
With the exception of Yeezus, most of my June was spent going through bits of past ambient pop that I’ve grown to appreciate. Whether it’s IDM from the 90s (Aphex Twin), early 2000s indie-rock (Broken Social Scene), or the very recent dance pop from overseas (Disclosure), I was so into this music that I was almost tempted to go out and buy a mini controller. Almost. But of course there was plenty of other great non-electronic music to be heard this past month.
Here are my 20 songs for June 2013.
In May we said goodbye to a legend from the 60s, we all listened to new albums from Daft Punk, The National and Vampire Weekend (and they were all good!), and I listened to a lot of Brit-Pop (more specifically I listened to a lot of music from the Brit-Pop era).
Here are my 20 songs from May 2013.
